Is it possible to have a plug-in just to display the visitor that there are # unread threads and # unread replies?
Something simple that would be useful I guess.

This would require 1 query for new posts and another query for threads per board. 10 boards would = 20 queries. I just don't care to add something with that kind of of overhead to the index page as it already has quite a few as it stands.
